Fair Lending

Overview

Fair lending principles are embraced by CBA members. Regulatory enforcement, however, is an increasingly complex area of compliance, and has become even more challenging with the intense search at the state and federal levels for 'predatory lending' practices.

CBA has provided a leadership voice in Washington for the banking industry. Through the Fair Lending Committee, composed of lawyers and fair lending specialists at banks nationwide, CBA has stayed on the cutting edge and kept the industry informed of the latest in fair lending activity. A special task force on predatory lending issues has met regularly.

To encourage self-evaluation, CBA helped establish a privilege for self-testing for fair lending compliance. The Committee has also guided CBA in responding to new fair lending guidelines and protecting banks from unnecessary small business data collection.

Through our annual Fair Lending Conference, we offer the expertise and experience of the leading bankers, regulators and consultants in the field.

The 2009 Fair Lending Conference will be held October 19 - 20, 2009 at the Omni Shoreham, Washington, DC.
