Board, Committees, & Councils

Bankers shape the future of their industry through involvement in CBA’s Board of Directors, Councils, Committees and Task Forces. Heads of retail, consumer lending, marketing and compliance typically derive the biggest benefit, and comprise the core constituency for CBA.

The efforts of CBA’s Automobile Finance Committee have provided the industry with the only comprehensive forum on indirect lending, floor planning, leasing and non-prime lending. This united front has helped the industry maintain its market share. The Community Reinvestment Committee ensured that CBA is the acknowledged industry leader in community reinvestment policy, affordable lending, and community and economic development. Our Fair Lending Committee has stayed on the cutting edge and kept the industry informed of the latest in fair lending activity. Collections and recovery are strategic components of consumer banking, and CBA has brought light to these functions through its Collections Committee.

Representing major student lenders, the Education Funding Committee is the public policy voice for private-market capital to fund America’s higher education. As the Department of Education struggles to keep a third of total student loan volume in its Direct Loan program, the Committee has fought a multi-front battle to destabilize the Federal Family Education Loan Program.

CBA’s Small Business Banking Committee  has sought out new approaches to serve this dynamic marketplace.  CBA’s Home Equity Lending Committee promotes the exchange of information and ideas relating to mortgage-secured credit. The Government Relations Council identifies developing business issues, which may have a legislative or regulatory component, and react to initiatives by lawmakers, which directly affect retail banking.

CBA’s Board, committees, councils & workgroups deliver a ‘big picture’ perspective to help ensure a strong future for the industry.
