CONSUMER DEPOSITS COMMITTEE

Deposit growth and strategies have always been a core focus of retail banks. Today's volatile economic climate - with consumers relying less on credit products and more on deposit account services - brings deposit growth and account management to the forefront.

CBA's Consumer Deposits Committee addresses the issues and challenges facing retail banks in the management of the deposits function. The group examines issues from a national perspective maintaining consumer confidence in deposits, growing deposit rich relationships and meeting customer needs in the face of sweeping changes to the regulatory system and controversies associated with fee income as well as the increased use of technology.

The committee keeps abreast of all regulatory issues and, with the support of CBA's government relations group, meets with government agency representatives to gain insight and provide them with information on the in-depth workings of deposit relationships. The committee suggests content for CBA's Annual Conference, CBA LIVE, to help bankers understand the next evolution of consumer banking services and the value of partnering with other departments in the bank to grow deposit income.
