SMALL BUSINESS BANKING COMMITTEEAs the banking industry sees growth opportunities in the small business market, CBA's Small Business Banking Committee identifies new approaches to serve this marketplace. While the small business market is largely pursued, it has yet to be mastered. The goal of the committee is to help CBA members develop a retail banking strategy to achieve the potential of the small business market and encourage bankers to plan for growth as the economy recovers. The committee focuses on a range of challenges, with the economic climate topping the list. The lack of confidence small business owners have in a timely economic recovery has stalled borrowing, placing the economy in a Catch 22, as small business growth is critical to the economic recovery. Internal challenges identified by the committee range from creating a specialized customer experience in the branch for the small business owner, to bringing together the retail franchise and small business bankers to more effectively serve customers. As the federal government focuses of small business lending, the committee and the CBA team will work to educate lawmakers on the special challenges lenders face today in providing loans while managing risks. These are some of the issues addressed during CBA's annual conference, CBA LIVE. For more information on the Small Business Banking Committee, contact David Pommerehn. COMMITTEE MEMBERS
